For the next four weeks I'll be sharing an Instax a day. It's a fun little project to document our time while Brett is away. Using instant film causes me to want to be more thoughtful about what I capture so I think this will be a fun challenge.
Today I've got photos from our early Father's Day celebration at Gailey's. We treated Brett to his favorite breakfast place earlier this week and gave him his Optimus Prime talking Father's Day card and new wallet early. Sebastian wore his thrifted Transformers shirt and recently gifted Optimus Prime mask (yes, I'm slipping) and sat at the bar while we sat a nearby table and entertained our sick baby girl.
She wanted to play with the Instax camera so I let her hold it and showed her where the button was and this is the result! Her first capture. Interesting, well-composed, and not even blurry.
You can't go wrong with breakfast food, instant film, and people you love.
Be back tomorrow with a photo from the road.
xoxo,
Rachel

I'm looking into buying an Instax, and this is tempting me even more! And I see a great photographical career ahead for Ruby. I'm always curious about this when I see mamas blogging--would you encourage her to blog?

Kristen,
I have an Instax 210. It's the wide version and is my favorite after seeing the film of the regular and mini. They are all so cute but the wide feels more substantial and so similar to a regular polaroid.
I'll update a post with more info. soon.
Thanks for asking!

That IS a well-composed shot! Kudos to Ruby!
The inside of your bag looks beautiful, and I'm curious to know what the bag looks like from the outside. Have you posted a photo before? I'd love to see it!
Good luck while Brett is away,
Kristin

Lovely!! :) Is that an album underneath that you made for them? I *heart* instax's - I have a mini and took 2 photos a day while on vacation in Hawaii, and I'm really jonesing for the wide one, now. :)

Random stalker question....I NEED a new wallet and LOVE the one in the purse in the pic! Is it thrifted or store bought? Any suggestions on where to get a really cute vintage wallet?

This sounds like such a fun project! Hopefully it will help pass the time while Brett is away. You're such a thoughtful wife & mama! I'm curious about that album underneath also.....maybe you could do a post about how you display those instaxes. :)

Meg,
Thanks! I bought that wallet at Target last year (spring?) and love it. It's that laminated cloth fabric and is easy to find in my purse because of how it feels!
Nicole,
Thanks for that idea! The album is actually a journal that I keep in my purse for notes but I DO need to figure out a way to display those Instax for when I'm finished at the end of the month. DIY? Possibly!

i love that sebastian is wearing an optimus prime mask. i'm all about letting kids wear what they want. don't think of it as slipping, think of it as allowing your kid the creative freedom to express himself through clothing. :)
