This is it. My Thanksgiving-ish project. It probably could've used a doily, twine, or some buttons to take it up a notch but I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. The bulky straw wreath and wool fabric were thrifted, the wool felt was left over from a recent project, and the owl was one of three I picked up at Walgreens. I cut the fabric, wrapped pieces around the wreath, stitched them to each other, cut out and stitched the leaves, and then carefully attached the owl with some strategically placed embroidery thread.
I may start decorating the inside for Christmas but I'll let this little guy hang out until Black Friday. Then it's over.
Are you a wreath maker? It's slightly addicting, isn't it.
xo,
Rachel

oooo he's so cute :)

Cute! I think the simplicity of it really works - it doesn't need lace and baubles.

It looks fantastic!I must admit wreath making is addictive...if only I did not live in an apartment. No one really gets to see mine!

I was so happy to read the news about Brett coming home for more time than any of you had expected! You're so adorable for wanting to just pedal to the metal, get to Christmas. I can totally see why!!!
I still have pumpkins and pansies on my porch, but I did manage crack the trunk door on all my Christmas decor last night... I have no problem having little bowls and vintage planters filled with vintage Christmas ornaments + balls YEAR ROUND! But the only reason I actually put them away is so that they feel special around the holidays.
I hope things are going well for you three over there! I don't know how you manage to make adorable owl wreaths when you're flying solo!!! XOXOXO

I love it! Yes, wreath making is so addictive! :) Especially around this time of year when plaid is the fabric of choice (I'm slightly in love with plaid to say the least) :)

How CUTE! I'm pretty obsessed with birds and owls. I love all the fabric combos on this.

I only put up a wreath during Christmas, but this inspires me to start putting one up for Thanksgiving. I love it!

Happy to hear that you will be to see Brett over the Holidays. Sad to hear that you will be moving. Sad especially because when Mallory and I visit Springfield, you won't be there :(. I know it won't be for a while but good luck in the new city.

i have so many wreaths to make for christmas decor (and gifts) i decided not to do a fall-theme one. i made a knitted garland instead which will probably come down after thanksgiving dinner (if my decorating fingers don't get too itchy while the husband is cooking):

Love this owl wreath! :) I never got around to decorating for fall (I moved in August and have been super busy) so I'm looking forward to decorating for Christmas earlier than usual, too. So happy for you that Brett will be home!
