We've finally reached the point where there are more things unpacked than packed, the furniture is mostly arranged where it will stay until I get the itch to change it up, and I can find those really necessary things like my iron, clean socks, etc.
Meanwhile, the littles are staying entertained with the wardrobe boxes (hello, slide!), and anything else they can get into while I'm elbow deep in packing paper.
That Ruby girl. She's just pure sugar.
Let's take a poll. How long did it take you to unpack during your last move? One week? One month? Still walking past that last box?
Also, have I said how much I love our new place yet? Things were looking pretty desperate there for a few days but then we spotted the rent sign in front of this one after dark on our way back to our hotel on night. The next day we got a tour and were kind of on the fence because it was a two bedroom and we were looking for three. I'm so glad we weren't even tempted with any other possibilities (no one wants to rent to pet owners) because the more I think about it other than the lack of closet space this house has everything we needed and has more charm than it knows what to do with.
Moral of the story: Hold out hope for those things your heart desires but don't let that third bedroom get in the way.

During my last move, it definitely took me awhile to unpack but I chose it to be that way. Instead of simply unpacking and putting everything where it was in my old place, I wanted to make a new home for myself, in a new way. So I took my time to create a new space for my new life. Good luck with the rest of your unpacking!

My fiancé and I just moved, in the midst of both working overtime at at our jobs. :0 We are still unpacking boxes... 3 weeks later. Blech. Your new home looks too adorable for words. Happy new home! :)

Maddie,
I like that perspective. I agree, I feel like it's an opportunity for things to be fresh and that your environment should reflect that. Thanks for sharing!

In the last 5 years we have lived in 4 states, so we haven't officially unpacked everything. We have a huge closet just filled with boxes.
So glad you guys found a place!

loving it! thrilled for y'all, praying the settling in is a joy. xo

gosh your place looks great already! I unpack right away but I feel uneasy until everything is in it's place. I'm sure it's different with 2 little ones running around though!

so happy you found a home to love! uh, can i just say we still have a few boxes tucked away that never saw the light of day... knowing we'd be moving in 6 months anyway? i totally forgot what was in them.

First, I am completely impressed with how quickly you've settled in! Also, your renting story sounds a lot like ours right now. We're looking to move closer to my husband's office and that third bedroom that we've been holding out for just seems to be getting in the way. Your words are encouraging to say the least! :)

LOL!
We've got two bedrooms, too! I was sure we'd need a bigger place when our second was born, and there are occasional challenges, but for the most part they do quite well! I just love looking in on them in their beds, all snuggly in their cozy little room together. It always makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

When we moved from Chicago to Ft Benning it only took 2 days to unpack(had a couple great friends help!) but from Ft Benning to Ft Stewart we've been here since late 2011 & I'm completely unpacked(within a week) but still decorating & redecorating. Army moves stink :) esp as both were dity!.

I moved into a new house mid-January, and still have to finish unpacking...

I also almost let the lure of the 3rd bedroom get the best of me when we were looking for a new place, but the place we found has almost everything we want and we have the best landlords...so I'm glad we weren't tempted by that extra space either;) Can't wait to see more of your place;)

I was completely unpacked the after I moved and had pictures hanging on the walls two days later. Of course, I only moved to a one bedroom apartment and have no little ones to entertain :-) I'm also hate the boxes, so I'm willing to stay up all hours of the night to get it done :-)

It looks cute already! It's going to be almost a year now that we moved to the place we are living in now and it took me about two weeks to unpack everything and organized.

Well, let's see...I moved in with my husband about the time you moved into your last home...I still have a couple of boxes that aren't unpacked and I'm almost done with arranging everything the way I like it. Kinda depressing.

Looking good! Im glad you found a place to call home. Looks cozy and lovely :)

Your new place looks beautiful and your pretty things fit in the space so perfectly!
SO impressed with how quickly you're getting everything unpacked and in its place! When i move, I find that the first 90% of stuff is somewhat easy to deal with and put away (though still time-consuming!), but it's that last 10% that doesn't really have a defined home or place that just sits around FOREVER.
The kids' box fort is ADORABLE. And your pink rocker is just to die for :)

I think it is seven months since we bought and moved into our first home. Last week I realized I still haven't seen the iron since before the move. Shows ya just how often we iron and just how wrinkly our clothes are :) That being said, I think maybe because we bought the house, I honestly felt at home immediately. Normally I'll have a long adjustment to a place, where I won't really feel safe at night and where I'll wake up and wonder where I am in the morning. I never had that uncomfortable time period. Not to say that everything is perfect, but most issues are things we tell ourselves WE get to fix and change however we lik. Also, certain patterns like time spent, have developed into temporary bad habits where I'm sitting in the living room watching TV and working at the coffee table on art/design and craft projects rather working in my studio room. But I remember that happening before, it took me a long time before I worked in there regularly. I'm just anxious to cut out my dependency and break the bad habit of netflix and hulu.

I'm still working on it after 18 months lol xo

Hmm when I'm not pregnant it takes about a week. Right now I'm 24 weeks pregnant and I'm still not done unpacking (3 weeks in our new home), but things just move slower for me right now =)

It took me a few days to unpack (but I have moved A LOT and it's just a one bedroom place); when my boyfriend moved in it took him about a year to unpack all his stuff!

Just read your series of moving in posts... congrats on finding your perfect place! Wonderful. I dare not show our littles your AMAZING fort as we currently don't have any boxes to build one. Much fun!!!
