My parents, grandparents, brother, and his girlfriend are all visiting us until the 5th and so far we've eaten a lot of good food together, taken family photos, fixed up a kiddie pool, napped, and explored the penny arcade. We were all unsure how the fires might affect our plans but it's looking like we'll get to do Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls and we're crossing our fingers that Pike's Peak highway will open before they have to leave.
I spent an hour by myself at Target tonight picking up supplies for a certain boy's sixth birthday party. I was instructed to have donuts and cake and lots of Lego Batman stuff so I'm going to do my best to give that boy what he wants. Pinterest came to the rescue again when I was drawing a blank so now I'm making a Batman silhouette for a Pin the Logo on Batman game, mixing up glow-in-the-dark bubbles, and making bat garlands. Target wins for having lego birthday candles.
The kids have been spending most nights at my grandparents' rental with my parents which has been equal parts relaxing and strange. I'm so used to having them home with me each night that I have to remind myself to enjoy it while I can rather than feeling like part of me is missing. Sunday is at doggy day care so the house is still pretty clean!
Can you believe it's already July?
