Sebastian's first day of first grade was yesterday and it went off without a hitch. I have been surprised each of the three years we've sent him off to school that I've not been beside myself with emotion but Sebastian has always been the kid that just walked right in and didn't look back. I am thankful for his courage walking into new situations as our past few years have been full of them and our futures contain many more, I'm sure.
Ruby isn't going to school but she'd like to be. After carrying around her brother's backpack for a week we got her her own Skip Hop mini. She woke up right before we left but remembered to bring her backpack. Thankfully she didn't insist on staying as we said goodbye to Sebastian after meeting his teacher.
We're thankful that all of his old friends from last year's class are in his new class and that he gets to sit at the same table as our new neighbor friend. Having a friend with you can make even the scariest new situation easier, right?
Also, the weather here these last few days has been cool and I've even seen some nut trees with leaves turning brown! I am SO HAPPY about this! I don't know if this is just a fall teaser or if we've got more in store from here on out but I'm enjoying it so much.
