I've been taking a forced break from Instagram after the app stopped working on my phone (my usual methods to fix it haven't worked) which has also helped me avoid Twitter. I've enjoyed having a little more quiet throughout the day instead of filling lulls and getting distracted. Those first two days felt like withdrawal, though!
We've been spending more and more time in our backyard in the afternoons until it's too dark to play. Sebastian has been racing up and down the yard asking me to time him to see how fast he is and just yesterday broke four world records in jump roping. Do they have jump roping at the Olympics?
Whenever I've suggested something crafty lately Sebastian has balked but Ruby is always game. I've realized if I just get things out he'll usually show up and take part. Sometimes I feel the same. I just need someone to get the paint out for me and suddenly I've got it all over my hands, in my hair, on the floor.
We painted over old canvases that Sebastian and I made together before Ruby was on the scene. They used to hang in his room in Springfield but with less wall space in our current house had been stacked against a basement wall. I love that we've added a new layer or two of color with round two. Who knows, we may bring these out once a year and make it an art project that just gets better with age.
