Smile and Wave is a lifestyle blog dedicated to sharing my love of vintage, home decor, DIY's, and family moments. My husband, Brett, is a 2LT in the Army and we are currently making our home in Colorado Springs with our two kids, Sebastian and Ruby, and our dog, Sunday. I've been blogging since April 2007 as a means to connect with like-minded, creative, inspiring women and have felt the support of the handmade community so strongly as our family has made the transition from one baby to two, moving three times in five years, job changes, life decisions, creative challenges, and currently settling into our life with the Army.
I've been a student, a waitress, a nanny, an ESL teacher, and now someone who writes e-courses and blogs. I do it for so many reasons but mostly because it meets a lot of needs in my life. It offers connections during a time of transition and often times isolation but also challenges me to be a better wife, mom, friend, and creative soul. It drives me. It scratches an itch. It nourishes something important. It assists my family financially. It lets me document our family life in ways I might not otherwise. I do it for so many of the same reasons you may do it. I like being a blogger.
These days I split my time between wiping faces, thrift store adventures, building stuff, sloppy kisses, and Netflix dates. I'm most comfortable in a dress and flats. I love old movies. I have a piano that won't fit through our doorway. I will always say yes to building a fort.
This man stole my heart at the tender age of 18 after English class on the first day of college. We married two years later and are celebrating our 10th anniversary this summer.

I'm also happy to be a part of Red Velvet along with Holly, Elsie, Emma, and Katie. We are an art and design collective that support each other and love to share our love for all things vintage and creative with everyone. These girls are some of my best friends.

They say these are the best days of our lives. I don't have a good memory so I blog about it all on Smile and Wave.
