Hi there! Danielle here, from Sometimes Sweet! I'm so excited to be a part of Rachel's blog party today, and when I thought about what I wanted to share, one thing popped into my mind: summer. To me, summer means a lot of things. Before I become a mama this past November, I'd been a student for most of my life, and then became a high school English teacher. So summertime always had a very carefree aspect to it. It was always a celebration of the end of work, and the beginning of fun. Now that I'm a full-time stay-at-home Mom, summer doesn't quite have the same quality. We're well into June and I still haven't had that familiar rush of summer happiness, that feeling of being so carefree, and that idea that anything is possible. So, here's a list of what summer means to me- things from previous years that have made this season so magical. Let's hope by the end of this post we're all feeling a bit more...summer-y! Summer is...
a time to relax, a time to put your feet up, and a time to just let go.
it's a time for frozen yogurt,
and for having late nights out with your best friend, ending up in strange bars and dancing the night away...
it's all about going to shows, getting so sweaty in the summertime crowd, but loving every moment of feeling so alive.
Summertime means exploring a big city on a hot day,
it's a time to cut loose, unwind...and it's a time to do cartwheels in a field of grass if the mood strikes.
For us, summer is about boating. It's about feeling the wind through your hair, the water, the clouds, the packed lunches and the picnics on tiny islands.
It's also about ice cream. Lots of ice cream.
Summertime is boardwalk time, too. To go on all the rides, play all the games, and enjoy every second of those sunny afternoons turned into cooler evenings.
It's about taking long walks in a big city with your love...
and stopping for every photo opp along the way.
It's about fresh food, so much fruit,
lazy days in the grass,
and beach days with girlfriends.
But most of all, it's about taking a step back and seeing the beauty in the everyday.
Happy summer!

Summers are a great time of year. Just remember that while things may change once you become a mom, children make it all more interesting. You'll soon be making new summertime memories for your family of 3.

That ice cream looks so yummy! And you must tell me where that first photo is from. We went to Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora for our honeymoon and stayed in those over-water bungalows and that's what it looks like. It made me miss it when I saw your photo.

I love this little list! I can definitely understand your intro. After being in school for so long, I'm now a "grown-up" and summers no longer have as much magic. Thanks for reminding me of the special things that make summers so great!
