I have often wondered if there was a possibility that a vintage photo album might have the same dimensions as Instax wide film. I've picked two up prior to this one that looked about right but were 1/4" too narrow, or a 1/2" too tall, etc. When I found the one above I decided to take it home regardless of whether it would work because the print on the cover was so good! I'd do SOMETHING with it.
Imagine my surprise when I got it home and slipped the first photo in! Hooray! It's probably going to get filled up sooner than I know and when that happens I'll reorganize it to be a family photo album and put my pattern photos elsewhere. Ruby has already flipped through it a few times and pointed out all the photos with Daddy in them.
This is a funny one. This past summer when Brett went to Army camp (LDAC) for a month we visited my family in OKC. I was going to send an Instax self portrait to Brett in one of the cards we sent (almost) daily when my mom had the idea to do a full body shot with three photos. HA! It reminded me of those old flip books where you can choose different parts to create different characters. We had to go vertical with the legs to make it look to scale but these are the ones my mom took of me to send to Brett. You know, a little pinup action.
If you've been looking for a creative way to store your overflowing Instax collection other than keeping them on your inspiration board, on a garland, in a frame, or in a pretty tin, I would suggest keeping your eyes peeled for a vintage photo album. Keep an Instax that got messed up (in case it gets bent) in your purse when you're out thrifting so that you can test the size before deciding to pay for it. Even if it has an ugly cover, take it home! You can always cover it with contact paper, a fabric cover, or paint.
This one had no maker markings other than a Hong Kong stamp on the back. I wish I could give you a source for finding your own but like most good vintage, it's a treasure hunt.
How do you store your Instax film?
