I have often wondered if there was a possibility that a vintage photo album might have the same dimensions as Instax wide film. I've picked two up prior to this one that looked about right but were 1/4" too narrow, or a 1/2" too tall, etc. When I found the one above I decided to take it home regardless of whether it would work because the print on the cover was so good! I'd do SOMETHING with it.
Imagine my surprise when I got it home and slipped the first photo in! Hooray! It's probably going to get filled up sooner than I know and when that happens I'll reorganize it to be a family photo album and put my pattern photos elsewhere. Ruby has already flipped through it a few times and pointed out all the photos with Daddy in them.
This is a funny one. This past summer when Brett went to Army camp (LDAC) for a month we visited my family in OKC. I was going to send an Instax self portrait to Brett in one of the cards we sent (almost) daily when my mom had the idea to do a full body shot with three photos. HA! It reminded me of those old flip books where you can choose different parts to create different characters. We had to go vertical with the legs to make it look to scale but these are the ones my mom took of me to send to Brett. You know, a little pinup action.
If you've been looking for a creative way to store your overflowing Instax collection other than keeping them on your inspiration board, on a garland, in a frame, or in a pretty tin, I would suggest keeping your eyes peeled for a vintage photo album. Keep an Instax that got messed up (in case it gets bent) in your purse when you're out thrifting so that you can test the size before deciding to pay for it. Even if it has an ugly cover, take it home! You can always cover it with contact paper, a fabric cover, or paint.
This one had no maker markings other than a Hong Kong stamp on the back. I wish I could give you a source for finding your own but like most good vintage, it's a treasure hunt.
How do you store your Instax film?
xo,
Rachel

For my instax mini, I use a business card album! I did a DIY on it here: http://amymorby.com/2011/09/14/instax-mini-photo-album-diy/
It was $3, you can buy them at any office store, and they fit the mini instax pics perfectly!

I have the matching Telephone Address book to that photo album! Recognised the pattern straight away. And I live in Ireland, wonder who they were made by, no makers mark. Love reading your blog, Marcella xxx

I love this Rachel! I love film so much. It makes me happy to see other people using Instax or film. There is just something special about being able to touch and flip through photos. I'm sure it will be a fond memory for your kids some day!

What a great find! I hope to find one like it for mine!
I actually hang my Instax from a tree decal I got on Etsy a few years ago. It looks like they are hanging in the branches :)
I actually just posted some pics of it on my blog!

that is awesome how perfect they fit and so cute, however, there is major acid in old albums (i had to save my childhood photos from some) and your pictures will slowly discolor and be ruined from non-acid free albums:(

I have a sweet vintage album not totally unlike this one. I didn't realize that I could fit my Instax photos in there until I saw this post (http://amymorby.com/2011/09/14/instax-mini-photo-album-diy/) from my friend Amy. The cover on my album was pretty sweet already so I left it but was I ever happy to have a safe space for my photos.
