I put together a little Christmas village vignette from thrifted finds I've collected over the last three years. We don't have a mantel so I've set it atop my vintage locker. I can't stop staring.
I like to collect things I love when I find them, regardless of what time of year it is, because I know I'll use them for something or other. It helps that I have a place to keep them out of sight until I need them and a good idea of what I'll be able to use them for in the future lest I end up with a locker full of junk. I used mostly vintage items to create this scene such as the village pieces, the deer, and the Reader's Digest books and added a few bits found at a local craft store. Before I could set it all up, though, I had to repaint that pink locker! It looked great in pink but I've been ready for a change ever since we got our patterned vintage couch. Two coats of primer and one coat of a light mint later and it feels like a whole new room in here.
Do you decorate the same way every Christmas or do you change things up a bit?
xo,
Rachel

aw so sweet. love those houses!
this is the first year i'm properly decorating our place. i've made a few wreaths, got our tree up... i'm hoping to do a little vignette on top of our bookshelves... we don't have a mantle either and VERY limited decorating space.
i'm so jealous of the thrifting in your neck of the woods... it's so awful in jersey city/hoboken and nyc is ridiculous, IF you can even find anything it's sooo pricey.

I just love the pink pom poms on the white tree -- so darling!
This year I'm really trying to come up with a different way to display my twinkle lights. I'm so sick of all the usual methods of hanging them, so right now I've got them stuffed in a gigantic glass carboy!
I'll definitely post pictures of my finished Christmas decor on my blog when it's all finished. For now, I'm still moving things all around trying to decide what I like the best.
xx.

So impressed with this Rachel! I'm seriously in love with everything about it.
As for decorating- I feel like I've been in a different house every Christmas for the last however many years so that forces me to mix it up. Now that we bought a house I'm excited keep some things a tradition while also mixing it up creatively each year.

SHOW US THE LOCKER! Eeek, I love a good mint green. The little Christmas scene looks adorable, too!

Oh, these remind me of some old houses I just got from my mom who inherited from her mom! They are definitely different but also similar too! I just blogged about it yesterday. It made me so happy to find the stuff. My little houses are really beat up (probably from me playing with them as a child). But your post today definitely reminds me of my heirlooms too! Fun!
