Ruby and I had just come home from the grocery store when we simultaneously realized we needed to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Her exact words may have been, "Mama, backyard!" Who am I to argue when we have fresh strawberries and newly thrifted books!
We brought out our special 'outside' quilt - the one I like but that's not too precious to get grass stains on it. I found it on Etsy while searching for vintage quilts right before Christmas and then fell in love with two others in the same shop. It turns out they were all three from an estate that this person had visited and were the only three quilts in a shop full of vintage jewelry. I had them all in my favorites for a week before deciding on the other two (both at bargain prices) and decided just to appreciate this one from a distance.
A week later I get a conversation from the seller saying she'd shipped the wrong quilt and was going to send me the third one (the one I had ordered) and not to worry about shipping the wrong one back since it was her mistake. I was giddy! What an exciting turn of events! I sent her the cost of shipping the second box as a way to show my appreciation because it was very kind of her to let me keep it.
With another gloomy day on our hands, I'm thankful we got outside and took advantage of that warm weather. I went out with my coat on and quickly had to strip down to my sleeveless top. I don't think there's anything quite like the feeling of warmth on your skin on a mild, winter day.
Except, maybe when it includes strawberries and books.
