The kids got kid's-sized video cameras from their great-grandparents for Christmas and spent a good hour right after running around the house filming each other. More recently Sebastian has discovered an app called Lego Movie that lets him make stop-motion movies. Brett gave him a quick lesson in the basics and he's since spent hours creating little battle scenes and story lines on the floor of his room.
It always makes my mama heart happy to see my kids show a genuine interest in something creative. Yeah, they'll do a project if I get it set up for them and they like to dance and sing but when they choose to explore something on their own I can start to see where their natural interests and talents are. I love that he's able to get lost in his own world for a bit and how proudly he'll run to find us after he's finished editing his latest.
Watch out Steven Spielberg.

This just got me so excited. Think of how much he has ahead of him to discover about himself and what makes his heart beat with passion... I mean, wow!!! So exciting to see him make some first discoveries of these things along with a family and environment that encourages him in these different, awesome outlets.

Oh! I love that! How fun! We have a most excellent video of legos running from a volcano to 'We will Rock You' :)

This just makes me smile! I've got two boys, a four year old and a 19 month old. I caught my 4 year old taking pictures of his brother in various poses the other day. Made my heart sing!

Was totally expecting to see one of Sebastian's masterpieces. Maybe he'll let you share one soon. ;)

Haha! I can still remember my brother doing this. Only with a much clunkier camera (it was the nineties!). He also used to create tiny monsters with play dough or polymer clay or something and do the same. Awesome stuff Sebastian!

Oh yes, please post one of his videos! I love encouraging kids to be creative. How sweet!

This is awesome. I've yet to make a stop motion film but I have enough understanding to know that Legos are the way to go! I was crazy about those things when I was a kid!

Um, yeah, so where was this during my childhood?

Awesome! Go Sebastian! I agree with what some of the others have said, it would be so fun to see one of his videos! Also, Rachel, who won the e-course giveaway? I'm new around here, just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.:) You're awesome!

That' so cool! I know a few kids that would love that app! It's always fun to see where they're natural interest lie, and anything that sparks their creativity is good in my book:)
