Smile and Wave is a lifestyle blog dedicated to sharing my love of design, DIY's, and family moments. My husband, three kids, and dog are transitioning back to the Midwest after almost three years in Colorado with the Army and we're so excited to be starting a new chapter!
I've been blogging since April 2007 as a means to connect with like-minded, creative, inspiring women and have felt the support of the handmade community so strongly as our family has made the transition from one baby to three, moving five times in eight years, job changes, life decisions, creative challenges, etc. and so forth. It's been the one consistent thing throughout years of change!
I've been a student, a waitress, a nanny, an ESL teacher, blogger, e-course writer, workshop teacher, and now published author-one of my biggest creative dreams come true! I do it for so many reasons but mostly because it meets a lot of needs in my life. It offers connections during a time of transition and often times isolation but also challenges me to be a better wife, mom, friend, and creative soul. It drives me. It scratches an itch. It nourishes something important. It assists my family financially. It lets me document our family life in ways I might not otherwise. I love the way it allows me to combine all of the things I love into something that challenges and fulfills me.
These days I split my time between wiping faces, building stuff, sloppy kisses, and Netflix dates. I'm most comfortable in a dress and flats. I love old movies. I will always say yes to building a fort.
They say these are the best days of our lives. I don't have a good memory so I blog about it all on Smile and Wave.
xo,
Rachel
